Course Superintendent's Message

April 26, 2024

Good morning and welcome back for the 2024 golf season! We are excited about the season ahead. The golf course wintered extremely well, and we have started with our Golf Course Enhancement Plan (GCEP).

The purpose of this communique is to highlight what to expect with respect to course conditions, what areas of the golf course are under construction / renovation, and how these areas will be managed until they are ready to open.

It is going to take some time for the property to kick into high gear with respect to conditions and playability. The course will be playing soft and slow for the first few weeks. You can expect to see conditions (firmness, speed, uniformity) improve over time as we get into the latter stages of May.

There will be numerous areas that will be Ground Under Repair as marked by white paint in combination with stakes and/or rope to help prevent daily traffic until they have matured. Once the work is complete, the areas will need to  “recover”. This recovery period will range from four (4) to six (6) weeks with the expectation to open these areas sometime at the end of May or early June (weather dependent).

***These areas are no go zones for carts and any sort of traffic. Should your ball end up in one of these areas, you may enter it by foot to retrieve your ball carefully.***

Golf Course Enhancement Plan Update

Project Expected Completion Date Expected Opening Date
#16 forward tee May 3rd to May 10th May 31st to June 14th
#6 approach expansion May 3rd to May 10th May 31st to June 14th
#11 approach expansion April 26th May 31st to June 14th
#12 fairway conversion May 3rd to May 10th May 31st to June 14th

Cart Path Conversion Project

We are converting old gravel cart paths to sod. The old paths were removed last fall (#3 to #4, #5, #9, #10, and #18). These areas require more grading and compaction before sodding. Expected completion date is between May 3rd and May 17th. They will also be marked Ground Under Repair.

Bunker Remediation Project

The bunkers have been thoroughly examined and we started to remove liners last fall in areas that were hazardous and/or impacting play. There is still work to be done this year, but we have removed liner posing challenges in 80% of the bunkers.

All bunkers will be in play for Opening Day. If we are working in a bunker on a given day, it will be highlighted on the Course Information Sheet that is displayed in the locker room, Proshop, and website.
